I am not sure the Dreamwidth thing is working for me. How about if I cross post to Twitter, sometimes? But maybe not always. What do you guys think? Any of you do that? I kind of wanted to keep the two parts apart, but that is maybe silly.

Also how about more Hornblower stuff? Anyone up for reading it if I wrote more? Not a lot of fic on my feed right now. How about smut? Is everyone just over it? I am hoping to write a Christmas thing for Perfect Duet in the next week. Not even started yet, not unusual for me...

I'm useless when it comes to advice re: Twitter. I think I made an account a while back, but I never use it. I have several people on my flist who repost their tweets from Twitter to LJ, but I confess, I rarely look at them. 140-character snippets, divorced from context, just don't do it for me when it comes to interpersonal discussion and discourse. But I know that huge numbers of people love Twitter, and it's pretty central now to the national conversation. So I'd say go for it if that's where your gut feelings are taking you.

Not meaning to intrude... most folks would use Twitter to direct followers to their posts on LJ and elsewhere. While twitter only allows 280 characters (recent upgrade) that is more than enough to post several links to other sites, and also to post pics and videos. At one time at least, each link and each photo used 22 characters, regardless of length of actual URL or size of picture. For the past year or so, pics don't count against the character total.
I think the more ways there are to notify folks of a post you might have on LJ or other sites, the better.

I do twitter a lot. But it is useless of course for any kind of real writing. But I can do that here and link it-- that is what I was thinking of. DW is just not for me it seems. I know they say that everyone is there now, but honestly I cant seem to find them.

I'm set up so that every time I post on LJ it automatically goes to Twitter... or at least it puts a link on Twitter to LJ. I also tried to set it up so things would auto post (set a link at least) on Facebook. I was trying to get it to go to my Facebook Page, but wouldn't. I think some ended up on my Facebook Profile which I never use. I do often manually post the link to an LJ post on my Facebook Page.
Hopefully the idea is to get even a few more folks to view whatever it is you've posted on LJ.

Yeah. That is kind of my plan. I don't think the cross to dw is going to work for me. But a Twitter link will be good.

Not having Twitter myself, I'm not in a position to comment on that. The Hornblower thing, on the other hand, I can get behind. I haven't been active much this year due to real life projects, but I do check my friends list every so often to see if anything new has popped up, and I'm always glad when I see something Hornblower related. Besides, those of us clinging to Livejournal need to support each other as often as possible.

I could get behind something LJ wise (as could mylodon). I've just got out of the habit of dropping in here because it had become so quiet. Nowhere else works like this place does though. *sighs*
