I have a new book! I am finding it very easy and informative. Lots of good primary source quotes. And just look at the alert young guy on the cover!

It continues summer here, very hot. Most days have hit 90 f. We run air in the house and car.

C has a summer job painting industrial murals in Manhattan. She is really enjoying it, and it is a good experience. Better than fast food or retail. Today she gets her first paycheck ever! ( Once she subtracts out lunch money and metro card there will be not much left-- that too is learning.)

Anyway here is my book

Your picture is HUGE. I can read "Young" but not much more!Lol!

We have had high 80's , but not much humidity, which makes it more tolerable.

What great experience for your daughter!!

By the time I saw the book, it was big, but the entire cover was on the page. Looks like something I'll have to add to the TBR.

We were in the 100's the last week of June. It's cooled down some now, and yesterday morning, I broke out my light jacket as I came home.

PS Sounds like a great job for the young one.

I read that one recently; I thought it was better than Pietsch's The Real Jim Hawkins (which admittedly covers lower deck boys rather than midshipmen) but my favourite book on boys at sea is Commander Walker's Young Gentlemen :)
