Clever girl

Last night around 7 pm I took Hazel out for her evening walk. We came back up the four flights of stairs and I went into the kitchen to make a pie.

I was up to my elbows in lard when I heard her speaking. She was doing a peculiar closed mouth bark that she uses when she wants to tell us something. She was sitting by the door too, instead of going back to bed as usual.

As I came to see her she pawed at the door. I opened it and Yodel came running in. He had slipped out and been stuck on the landing. She could hear him yelling, I did not.

What a good dog she is! A good friend to her kitties, even if they scare her a little.

My dad used to work away from home sometimes, inspecting breweries, returning at all sorts of odd times. Our dog would wait by the door about five minutes before he came home.
