Wonderful to read more about this amazing story! If those trees were felled in 1773, it's quite likely that that ship was afloat while Mr Midshipman Edward Pellew was serving on Lake Champlain. I wonder if he knew her?

I can imagine him looking her over with a professionally appraising eye. He must have been a very impressive mid, with that height and that hair!
