I like the gopher calling "Al! Al! Al?"
Our local zoo (Franklin Park )has gophers and they are a lot of fun to watch!! The male lion's roar can be heard EVERYWHERE in the park, when it's getting close to feeding time. They have really sturdy glass walls where you can observe the lions close up. There are lots of signs, telling people NOT to bang on the glass. One day two young teen boys ignored the sign (and me) and banged repeatedly, because the lion was lying down, and they apperently wanted to see him walk around. The lion suddenly ran and LUNGED at the wall of glass right where they were standing!! I was surprised they didn't wet their pants!!(Or maybe they did and it didn't show!) They sure left in a hurry, much chastened!!

I have been to Franklin Park Zoo-- years ago.

The Jacksonville Zoo had lions too- they were always asleep. They looked kind of like dirty brown fur coats, immobile in the distance. Of course, that is what cats do. They sleep in the sun most of the day. There were two of them, males, brothers. I think they had a pretty good life.

Yes, they seemed to sleep a lot, unless it was feeding time!! Then they would pace and roar!!
