I made a thing!

Tonight I made rolled fondant!

This changes everything. I was able make it out of marshmallows and confectioners sugar. It made a frosting that could be worked like bread dough. When I was ready I just rolled it flat and draped it over my cake. It was stretchy enough to obscure any bumps in the cake, and it tastes really good.

I am never going to buy store-bought cake frosting again.

That's great! And fondant-covered cakes look really pretty. You can make all sorts of designs and colors.

What's your recipe/method for that? Fondant is a pain in the ass in my experience, so I'd like to have a good, easier one.

This one.

It looks like the boiled kind is really hard to do. Maybe that is the kind you were doing? This was so easy! I can see myself going bonkers with petit fours now.

In the interest of full disclosure-- husband said the texture reminded him of joint compound. But he would have said that anyway-- I noticed he ate all his cake and then finished mine too!
