Dickinson Poem

I have had this poem on my mind lately. Do you guys know it? One of her best, travels well, and deceptively simple. Also Easterish.

Part Four: Time and Eternity

AMPLE make this bed.
Make this bed with awe;
In it wait till judgment break
Excellent and fair.
Be its mattress straight,        5
Be its pillow round;
Let no sunrise’ yellow noise
Interrupt this ground.

That's lovely! I'm completely unfamiliar with Emily Dickinson so this is new to me. I'm off to bed myself now so I'll take this with me and sleep on it.

Oh, she is one of the good ones. My brother says that all her poems boil down to 'death is my boyfriend' but I think that is over-simplifying.

Check out 'wild nights' or 'I'm nobody, who are you'

BTW I dressed as Emily Dickinson, for Halloween, one year when I was about 11. My mom made me a white hoop-skirt.

That's cool that you dressed as Emily Dickinson!

My son dressed as Houdini one year (that was his family nickname, because he was my 'escape artist') and all his friends were like "Houdini"?? What's that??"

Those are equally good. I loved Wild Nights! Wild Nights!

Dressing up as Emily Dickinson is very cool. Did folk know who you were or did you have to tell them?!

Some kids did not know. Adults mostly did. She wore only white.
