Sandy update-- so far so good

'Who has seen the wind? neither you nor I...'

So I did not get pictures of it. Especially not when I was forced to take my rain-soaked glasses off. I took the dog for a walk today with husband, through the wet park. The wind was there. Everything flying around, wet leaves stuck to the ground.

The squirrels were going bananas, so many new acorns, and ground easy to dig in. Hazel stalked some, but never got close to catching them-- she never does.

So far we still have power. The crux will be tonight I think. School is cancelled again for tomorrow, and work too. The pulsing wind sound makes me sleepy.

So glad you're all doing okay. Thanks for checking in! I've been following the live press updates all day, especially after hearing the terrible news about the Bounty.

Hazel was very brave going out in the storm today I think She deserves to catch a squirrel for being such a brave girl.

I hope things don't get too wild tonight. Here's Ned to help you ride out the storm, he experienced more than a few in his time. I'll be thinking of you all. *hugs*

Just went out to buy bread and eggs. Am cooking an enormous roast so if power goes out we can have cold meat for sandwiches. Am making a pie too-- because why not.

The bodega across the street is open. The place is crowded with people drinking coffee. Smells very good. Like coffee and bacon and rain. Hazel and I took a nap after our walk. She climbed up into bed with me all wet and shivering and muddy and doggish. I just flipped a blanket over her. She does not get on the bed much when we are in it.

The wind has picked up. Has anyone heard from Rikibeth?

Called my brother. He is filling his bathtub.

Sounds like you are very well prepared. Roast, pie and snuggly wet dog - what more do you need?! Impressed that the bodega is still open. I saw a bbc news report earlier tonight that said only the most determined storm chasers and dog walkers were still out on the street. I thought of you and M and Hazel :)

I haven't heard from Rikibeth, is she on the east coast too?

I'm going to have to call it a night now, as I don't have a Pulaski day tomorrow :} Stay safe and check in again when you can. *hugs*

We're just outside Boston and doing about the same. Hubby went out mid day to get my son from his train (the last one of the day!) We have power in some parts of the house but not others. Hubby says it's one of the 'mains' (??) He's an electrical engineer.

I'm glad all is well with you. I hate even the weak little winds we get over here in the UK so I'd be hopeless in a hurricane. A friend of mine is flying out to the US today (apparently flights from Ireland are still going out!).

Glad to hear you're alright! I hope all continues well for you, it's been quite scary watching what's going on there ...
