Amazing! I can't believe you have a beach on your door step, right in the middle of the city. You must be in your element :)

I knew about Coney Island, but this little beach is a hidden gem. I have water a block or two in both directions. It is the closest to the water I have ever lived. And it is serene. It has, as always the ability to soak up my little human troubles, and fill me with peace. I wish you could come see it. Do they have horseshoe crabs in Scotland?

Yes, when husband was in the Navy we lived in beachfront cities of course-- Norfolk Virginia, Jacksonville Florida, New London Connecticut, and also just North of Chicago. Lake Michigan is like an ocean in every way but taste. It stretches away to the horizon, it has waves, etc. But it tastes WRONG!! (Fresh water.)

That's a very soothing picture! Can you see that from your new house, or is it on a walk?

I can picture Horatio, Archie, and a couple boat loads of seamen and marines landing here to capture the enemy strong hold that's just out of sight!

Lovely!

Our new place-to-be is within a mile of the shoreline, and there are some public beach areas, but I have to figure out more about it.

The best swimming will be in August and September, by which time you will be all unpacked and settled. And it will be easy for us to visit back and forth on the train.

Looks very serene. It's amazing you have such quiet beach in NY, and how wonderful to live nearby such a beach! XD

how great that is - it looks fabulous and I am so pleased for all of you
I have a postcard from france which I addressed and stamped except I realised of course I don't have your new address

I will now put it in an envelope ( the Royal Mail would sniff at a French stanp but it is very pretty :) and send as a welcome to your new home card if you message me your address.

will work my way back to see what other pics you have up so far
