It could happen

Husband pointed this out. There are house seats up for grabs in November The longer the damned shutdown goes on, the more everyone is leaning away from the Republicans.

We could end up with a lame duck Democrat who has party control of the  house and senate. I don't think this has happened in my lifetime. I don't think Clinton ever had that going on.  Maybe under Johnson?

Do you guys know?

I think we are basically a nation of Puritans with short memories and a resistance to change and progress, and that nothing happening now will affect midterm Congressional elections, which are, after all, a whole 12 MONTHS AWAY. I mean, some Democrat will fart on a baby or something nine days before the election and every sin of Republicans in gerrymandered House districts will melt away in comparison.

So no, I don't agree. Unfortunately.

Also, what election is next month? Do you mean just a local one? Or did I sleep through more news? (I might have. I've tried to avoid a lot if it.)

According to wiki:

The 2013 United States general elections will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. This off-year election will feature special elections to the United States Congress, gubernatorial and state legislative elections in a few states, as well as numerous citizen initiatives, mayoral races, and a variety of other local offices on the ballot.

So maybe not enough to make a difference except at the state level. Husband is being too optimistic.

I don't know if/when it has happened before, but the one and only bright side I'm seeing in this is that hopefully people will remember it come elections. That's a long shot, I know...
