Obscure old James Taylor Song

Song came up on my ipod. An old James Taylor song. 'Terra Nova.' It is worth checking out. He wrote it about the Vineyard, but it could apply to anyone who has that tug at the heart for places where they cannot be. (Or a sledgehammer to the heart, depending.)

Make sure not to miss the hard to hear part at the very end.

'Out to the West of Lambert's Cove, there is a sail out in the sun, and I'm on board though very small. I've come home to stop yearning. ..

That's nice. I just googled and listened to it. I love his laid back style. Thanks for sharing!

Oh, i hope you have a wonderful time. It has gotten much busier in the last 20 years-- but some parts are the same. (Especially the South and West edges.)

I lived there, as a child. It was my home.

I'll be visiting my old friend in Edgartown, which I guess is as about as far from the South and West edges as you can get! But nothing's very far, of course. I summered there for three years from 91-93 (back when Aquinnah was still Gay Head), and love the place. I hadn't realized you grew up there!

It will always be Gay Head for me.

Will you be able to swim at Katama?

I hope so. I much preferred that to the north side - for swimming, that is.

Oh yes. South shore is best. I grew up swimming at Quansoo, which is a little further on. It technically belongs in Chilmark.

But I do have a soft spot for Lambert's Cove. So pretty. That is a town beach now. Anyone who buys a car sticker can go.

I love him too. Although he takes me right back to 1975 every time.

I got stuck in 1975 for music hahahaha. It's a song that makes me cry every time - even thought the place I have in my heart is a city
The vineyard has been high on my list of 'paces to see' for so long i feel I know it anyway.
Now I'm happily restoring my music lost when the vinyls and cassettes got damaged/outdated by downloading from YT and converting to MP3 with other software. Sunday is good for nostalgia!
